The following are a few ways to conceptualising a literature review:
List: literature review is basically a list containing pertinent items which represents the literature of the subject.
Search: the review is a process understood as identification of important information and the concentration is to find or look for. This may include gong through sources like database, article to recognise and identify information.
Survey: scholars also view literature review as an investigation of past and present writing or research on a subject. This investigation can be active which critical, analysis is or passive which is descriptive.
Vehicle: the literature review is also recognised as to have an effect on the researcher as it is considered as a vehicle to learn which leads to an enhancement of their knowledge and understanding. With this concept the review would act as a sound board by which the student can check ideas or test personal perceptions.
Facilitator: literature review is seen as a process that is directly related to research which is to be undertaken. The process would help the scholar to find out a topic, supported by a methodology, to provide a context or change direction of research. The literature review can thus help in shaping the complete process of a scholar’s research.
Report: basically literature review is understood as a written discussion of the literature drawing on previous investigations that have been conducted. The focus is to frame a written discourse for literature that maybe established as a part of a thesis.
